Adventures of one quarterlife crisis and a year-long trip around the world.
Ah! It’s time for another list. My packing list seems to be never-ending at this point. I’ve been told that you should decide on everything you want to take and then discard 2/3 of it, but of course, I consider myself to be an excellent packer :) so I’ll probably take most of the following…

The only thing I’m indecisive about is whether to take my Nike running shoes. The Diesels are way smaller than running shoes & just as comfortable. However, I would rather have my Nikes if hiking through mud is involved and they also have better arches. But they’ll probably just be extra weight 99% of the time… yay or nay?
Adventures of a twenty-something Pacific Northwesterner who ditched her marketing job and MBA for a year-long round the world trip. Call it a quarter-life crisis or just the travel bug; either way, this blog documents the adventure. One year later, take a look at my rehabilitation back into daily life.

Take the Nike’s. Might as well get rid of any doubts… If you don’t end up needing them in the mud, you’ve only carried more weight. If you don’t take them the first time you slip you’ll swear at yourself! :)

Take ‘em, take ‘em! (She took them.)
And she forgot to add the wonderfully perfect REI purse she bought last weekend:

I would take the Nikes for sure. More durable, better foot support and all around just a better “go anywhere, do anything” kinda shoe. But I’m sure the Diesels are getting major points for their style factor.
PS- I envy your gutsy ways. I REALLY want to take a big trip like this, but I would need a partner in crime and I just don’t know how to get up and walk out of a job when I have no certifiable reason (like having another job). ANyway, here’s to hoping I find the guts sometime soon. Thanks for your inspiration!

Just ran across your blog post. I will be making a long expedition soon, and I actually like your packing list. I will use a lot of it for my trip too. Thanks for the info, and good blog!

Ditch the jeans if you are worried about weight. They are heavy and will take forever to dry! Also, way too many tanks. Take less clothing, do laundry, and buy what you want!
(watch out for cotton, the higher the cotton content the longer it will take to dry. look for clothing that you can wash in the sink and will dry overnight.)
Looks like awesome fun!!

Hiya
I found your post very helpful, thanks so much! I’m going on a world trip myself together with my sister and we used your list as a guide.
We’re also keeping track of our adventures in a blog (although we’re just starting off!)
