Adventures of one quarterlife crisis and a year-long trip around the world.
Aahhh… something shallow to cross off my list. :) I found the perfect nail polish for “nail polish haters”. It’s called Sally Hansen Natural Shine Nail Finish .4 oz. Pink Tint. It’s super light, so it doesn’t make your nails sweat; and gives your nails just enough shine, so you feel girly instead of like a slob. And it looks good on short nails. AND, since it’s clear you don’t have to worry about “staying in the lines.” Clearly, I’m a big fan. AAAAND… it kind of wears off instead of chipping, so you don’t even really need to use nail polish remover. I love it!
This movie made me laugh. I know, I know, it’s a ground-breaking, revolutionary, Oscar-winning film. But as far as acting styles, it seemed rather forced, which says a lot for previous acting style if this film shook things up. I bet it was rather shocking at the time though. :)
A Streetcar Named Desire (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Only 77 more to see!
The Big Red Fez: How To Make Any Web Site Better (Seth Godin, 2002) is pretty basic, but a good (and quick) reminder read of how not to screw up with web sites and internet marketing. Rather similar to Don’t Make Me Think! by Steve Krug. It was written 5 years ago, but the basic ideas still apply.
I realized that I have seen 2 movies off the Top 100 Grossing Films list that I didn’t cross off the first time:
42 Ghostbusters 1984
36 Pinocchio 1940
So I’m crossing these off today, and it’s totally not cheating! :)
I watched “A Hard Day’s Night” this week, (from the Ebert 102 Movies You Must See List). It’s very striking how young they look in this movie. Anyway, it was adorable, who doesn’t love The Beatles! :)
I read yet another “light reading, vacation book!” The Nanny Diaries: A Novel by Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus was a quick and enjoyable read. This book was also a little sad because it makes you think of “career” families/people and what you could potentially miss out on by not choosing to raise you kids. Obviously the example of this book is by far one end of an extreme, but it still makes you think about it, which is probably a good thing! Their writing style reminds me a lot of Helen Fielding (Bridget Jones). I swear I saw a movie preview with this title… maybe I was imagining it, I’ll have to Google it. Now that I’ve read the book it would be really cute to watch a movie of this.
I finally finished The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Widescreen Edition) DVD. I had paused it for several day… but finally got back to finishing it up yesterday. I’d skip this movie, but I can see why children love it, who doesn’t love a talking lion? :) Really not sure why this was one of the top grossing films though. Oh well…. only 30 more to go!
Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog by John Grogan is definitely a beach read! This book was hilarious, as in ‘laugh out loud’ hilarious. I loved it! It reminded me of our dogs growing up, and how mischievous and horrible they could be, but also how amazing they are. Now I want to get a dog again! :(
Como se dice “fun”? :) What a cool place… I love Mexico! Now I just need to plan my next trip! :)
I found the coolest free software for this! It’s not pretty, but it’s still really fun and I got 100% on the European countries game (finally)! It’s called Seterra. I like the maps version and the flags. Oh what fun! This will definitely be an on-going project of nerdiness.
The List:
Europe
North America
South America
Asia
Africa
Australasia

*UPDATE: I found a flash version, Purpose Games, that includes all the little un-countries like Monaco & Andorra. There went my great scores!
*UPDATE AGAIN: TripAdvisor started a Games section of their site that has really fun map games, well fun if you’re a nerd anyway.
