I’m staying in Franz Josef for two days to do the glacier hike, so it’s nice to be off the bus for a few days. I picked the 8:15 glacier climb this morning. I’m really glad I have my own hat and coat, so I didn’t have to use the rental ones. I just had to borrow crampons. The glacier was so amazing! We hiked up until 1pm and then had lunch, before circling around and heading back down. By the afternoon, all the eager beavers who were at the front of the line in the morning were tired out, so I got to follow the guide, which was awesome. That meant that I got to go first on all the ropes, which was much more of an adventure. The ice is so blue. I’ve never seen anything like it. When we got back I had a huge dinner and then went to sleep pretty early.
