Good Life

Life Lately

September 23, 2020

It’s a been a minute or two since I blogged regularly on Powered by Tofu. After a few years away, I’ve been missing writing on the regular. The inertia of getting back to writing is tough. It kind of feels like when you forget to text a friend back and then a week goes by and then a month, and then you feel guilty about it but you still forget to reply. Or in my case, more like 5 years. So uh, Hi again!

At the beginning of this year I kickstarted Frugal Bon Vivant back up. I’ve been blogging over the past eight months about DIYs (like building a mud kitchen), kids stuff, and some outdoor adventures and fitness (like camping and a review of my Oru Kayak and my DIY Peloton). Kind of an adventure and motherhood resource for the modern mama. We’ll see how it shifts over time. But it’s been really nice to write again.

Sooo I’ve been doing a little behind-the-scenes work around here lately too. You may have seen a few older posts pop back up into your feed. I’ve been updating, and cleaning up.

Why did I stop blogging? Life. A funny thing about working for yourself and doing consulting work is that you never seem to have enough time in the online world. It’s kind of always the “cobbler with no shoes”. And so the last thing on my list was this blog. But I miss it! I popped in every fall to update my goals spreadsheet as promised! But other than that, things have been pretty quiet around here.

What have I been up to? Working for myself, got married, traveled a bunch more (Sardinia was a favorite!), had a baby, traveled a little less than before, but still more than I thought I would (New Zealand! Scandinavia!). And now that baby is more of a kid and we’re six month into a pandemic and all the other things currently going on the world. And I suddenly have a bit to say again. I started this blog in 2006 (!!) as a personal blog and documentation of life and lists and travel. So it’s been a bit of a hodge-podge. I’m excited to start showing up over here again though to write about Portland and Travel, with some Life thrown in (Goals, Fitness, food, lists, spreadsheets etc).

Welcome back, I hope you’ll stay!
