Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie + a haiku

September 4, 2011

Last Updated:

You know what’s great about bananas and blenders? They go well with peanut butter… and sometimes chocolate too. So if you want to mix up your typical banana smoothie recipe, look no further than peanut butter (unless there’s a jar of Nutella behind it, then I would recommend you keep going).

Peanut butter banana shakes are perfect for a post workout snack, or just an afternoon treat. Now, before we get started, I want to lecture you about that jar of peanut butter in your hand… Turn it around. If you see more than two ingredients listed — peanuts and salt — you aren’t doing yourself any favors. Yes, Nutella has all kinds of “bad” stuff too, but if peanut butter is a big part of your life, you should invest in some of the tasty natural kind (like Adams) over ones loaded with sugar and hydrogenated oils. Okay, I’m done. Phew!

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup soy, almond, rice or cow milk
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (*cough* or Nutella *cough*)

Throw ingredients in blender. Blend. Enjoy!

Oh, I promised you a haiku?

banana alone
craving some peanut butter
blended perfection

Silence.
